The two people I live for

I have started a new journey of documenting some of the things I think about, my perspective on life, the choices I make, and the kind of person I am trying to become.

And the very first question I wanted to ask myself was:

Why do I do what I do? Who am I trying to impress? Who do I want to look up to me and feel proud?

And honestly, I can only think of two people.

My younger self. And my older self.

The first is that 10-year-old boy with hope and sparkle in his eyes. A kid who had very little, but dreamed of having a beautiful life. Who wanted to fight through everything and give his family everything he could. Who wanted a life filled with laughter, friends, adventures, and people he could love deeply.

As I grew older, life taught me about love, companionship, and the beauty of having someone by your side, someone whose presence makes even ordinary moments worth enjoying.

So, I want to impress that little boy.

I want him to look at me and say, “You did it. Maybe not everything, maybe not perfectly, but you stayed honest with yourself. You kept going. You built something.”

And then there is my 80-year-old self.

The man who can sit down one day, look back at every chapter of his life, and know that he was aware of the choices he was making.

That he didn’t simply let life happen to him.

I want him to remember the mountains I travelled through, the rivers I crossed, the countries and cities I explored, the friendships I made, the people I loved, and all the experiences I collected along the way.

I want him to look back and think:

“I was ridiculously well-read. I was well-travelled. I was curious. I experienced life fully. And most importantly, I knew why I was doing what I was doing.”

I never want a perfect life.

I wanted a beautiful one. And, I am living that.

One that my 10 year old self would be excited to live, and my 80 year old self would be proud to remember.

Maybe that is what I am trying to build.

A life that makes both of them proud and grateful.

That is all for the first one.

Thank you for reading.
